He completed his postdoctoral training at the National Institute of Bethesda in the United States and upon his return at the National Center for Molecular Biology (CSIC), always deepening his knowledge of different viruses. He has more than 200 publications, books, articles, 10 patents and has supervised more than 38 doctoral theses. The jury has highlighted the scientific career of the winner, his relationship with the biotechnology sector and his role in the growing relevance of Spanish science and his involvement in the development of vaccines against COVID-19.
